چکیده

Multi-packet detection approaches handle packet collisions and errors by forcing packet retransmission and by processing the resulting signals. NDMA (Network Diversity Multiple Access) detection approach forces Q retransmissions by all stations when Q stations transmit in one collision slot. Previous work assumed that perfect power control is used, where the average reception power is equal for all stations. In this paper we handle the scenario where no power control is used, and multiple power levels are received. We propose a modification to the basic NDMA (Network Diversity Multiple Access) reception mechanism, where some of the stations may not retransmit its packets all the times. This paper evaluates the EPUP (energy per useful packet) and the goodput for a saturated uplink. Our analytical results are validated by simulation using joint PHY (physical layer) and MAC (Medium Access Control) behavior. We show that by suppressing some retransmissions we are able to improve the system's EPUP, practically without degrading the network goodput.

Performance of Hybrid ARQ for NDMA Access Schemes with Uniform Average Power Control

Traditionally, a packet with errors, either due to channel noise or collisions, is discarded and needs to be retransmitted, leading to performance losses. Network Diversity Multiple Access (NDMA) handles collisions by combining a multipacket detection scheme with time diversity. In NDMA, the Base Station (BS) forces mobile terminals (MTs) to transmit P copies of each packet when P MTs collide. ...

The Optimal Power Flow of Multiple Energy Carriers in Networked Multi-Carrier Microgrid

The future distribution network comprising different energy carriers will include small-scale energy resources (SSERs) and loads, known as a Networked multi-carrier microgrid (NMCMG). This concept not only leads to an efficient reduction in operation costs, but also encompasses the energy transformation between gas and electric networks at combined nodes, as well as district heating networks. I...

Stability and Delay of Network-Diversity Multiple Access with Backlog Retransmission Control

This paper proposes two strategies for retransmission control of backlog traffic in the family of algorithms known as network diversity multiple access (NDMA). This type of algorithm can be relevant for future 5G systems, mainly because they provide (in ideal conditions) an almost collision-free performance for contention-based traffic, while achieving very low latency values with reduced feedb...

Collision resolution in packet radio networks using rotational invariance techniques

This paper deals with the multiuser medium access problem in the packet radio environment. Under the framework of network diversity multiple access (NDMA), a recently proposed medium access method, a blind collision resolution scheme is proposed employing rotational invariance and factor analysis techniques. The proposed approach (dubbed B-NDMA for Blind NDMA) overcomes the difficulty of orthog...

Performance analysis of feedback-free collision resolution NDMA protocol

To support communications of a large number of deployed devices while guaranteeing limited signaling load, low energy consumption, and high reliability, future cellular systems require efficient random access protocols. However, how to address the collision resolution at the receiver is still the main bottleneck of these protocols. The network-assisted diversity multiple access (NDMA) protocol ...
